019 – My knight in shining armour

Many years ago when I was a struggling solo parent I remember telling a friend, while we were out walking one day, that I wished my knight in shining armour would turn up on his white horse and sweep me off my feet. The romantic in me was in control at that moment. I was feeling very alone and I wanted someone to share the load with me – someone who would care about me, listen to me, and support me through the many challenges I was dealing with at that time in my life. I imagined this knight would make me happy, perhaps even be the answer to my prayers. After all the hurt and pain I felt I deserved this.

Many years later my knight in shining armour did turn up. He came from afar, a place called Wanganui. His mode of transport was the “Lionmobile” – a white Mazda hatchback car that had definitely seen better days. My knight came into my life when I wasn’t expecting him. In fact I had completely given up on the idea. He arrived, took me in his arms and swept me off my feet.  The best part is that my knight is now my husband – my best friend and my soul mate.

Today while I was outside I spotted Lynsey through the window as he was working away in the kitchen. I looked at him and thought, “that’s my knight”. My heart was bursting with love as though we were right back at the time when we first met.

I bet you didn’t see all this when you looked at this unretouched photo I took today.
