040 – Spring fever

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! — Mark Twain

Down on Lambton Quay, the ginkgo trees are doing their best to colour coordinate with Phil Price’s ‘Protoplasm’. The rest of the population are wondering if it’s going to snow, or rain, or the sun shines or maybe all at once – nobody knows quite what. Perhaps the answer is to take a look around, and then to scuttle back indoors, and take some ginkgo for its creativity and brain activity enhancing properties.

But why? We get told, variously, that we use only 1, 2, 5, 7, and/or 10 percent of our brain power. How this is calculated I have no idea. Why this is calculated I have even less of an idea. What’s the whole deal with trying to add oomph to your brain? It just doesn’t seem worth the effort. Why not just relax and reflect on the beauty of the spring greens, butterscotch, and toffee colours; and be grateful you’re not out in the biting wind.

Manifesto
06. Every day you make choices.
13. Every day be better than you were the day before.
24. Every day is a journey. Not a destination.
