You’re on the top floor of this building. There’s something of an emergency. You decide to make an evacuation, out the top windows, down the fire escape, and make good your escape. Best of luck, I say.
You might notice the ‘ladder’ that allows you to climb the last few steps down to the rather steep pitched roof, followed by the rather tangy 3-4 metre (10-12′) drop to the ground. If you were suitably motivated by a fire I’m sure you manage it in a fairly snappy time, and if you broke an ankle or arm as a result of the ladder or the drop it’s a much better story than being burnt in a fire.
While this is not optimal, he said, charitably, it is a much better alternative than just pitching yourself out the window hoping against hope.
How often do we live like this? Everything is working fine on-stage – if a disaster struck what would your fall back position be? Better a rusty fire escape and a dodgy ladder than nothing. I think always have a Plan B. Go learn something new – you never know when some unexpected change will leave you floundering. Preparation today for the unexpected tomorrows is old fashioned good sense. What’s your Plan B options?
Manifesto

13. Every day be better than you were the day before.
23. Every day retain your personal power. It belongs to you. No one else.
