251 – Mother’s Day

My Mum loves bulbs. I do too. As far back as I can remember bulbs have been part of our idea of garden essentials. Amongst the earliest to flower are these are saffron crocus – the stamens are where the spice saffron comes from. I brought these to our garden from Mum’s garden, via my sister’s garden. I don’t know where Mum got them from. One of the great joys of gardening with bulbs is they’re easy to share. Easy to care for (see also: do nothing) apart from a little fertiliser, and the job is done. The reward of flowers this year and the next. Another gift that keeps on giving. Thanks Mum, love you.
