291 – Te Pou Whenua

Ra Vincent’s sculptures look exceptionally beautiful in the dying light of the day. I love the way the changing light makes the sculptures seem to glow mother-of-pearl in the moody late afternoon. The Pou Whenua reflect traditional tribal boundary markers – marking a site where there was once a stream, and a space between the Kumutoto and Pipitea Pa sites. Today the space is a small and somewhat uncomfortable park on the toe of Parliament grounds.

Manifesto
36. Every day be still. Connect to your inner being. Listen and be guided by it.
41. Every day use your mind. It is the greatest technology ever created.
42. Every day celebrate. Who you are. What you have achieved. Things that matter to you.
