Dinner. That sublime time of the day. We’re usually pretty shattered when we arrive home from work and then there’s food to make. I don’t mind making dinner – it gives me a chance to put some music on and some time to concentrate on the task at hand. One of the many meditation moments through the day. I try to improve my knife skills, my sauté skills, my boil skills – even if the dish is simple I try to make it better than the last time I made it.
Sometimes it is better. That’s rewarding. The real reward is that we’ve got enough of the right things and the good things to make a meal at all. I feel so blessed when I sit down to a meal – elegant or simple – perhaps more often when the meal is simple – we have food on the table. Everything else doesn’t matter.
Manifesto
