361 – Harbingers of Spring

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive. — Eleanora Duse

No clearer expression of Spring for me than the flowers of the Magnolia stellata – a native of Japan. The flowers appear before the leaves – a joyous sign of the end of Winter, no matter how lingering it seems to be. I always feel grateful to see the blossoms.
