Usual suspects

Today I parted with our old and faithful computers. Desktop mini-towers, heavy CRT monitors, UPS, RS-323 connectors, dial-up modems, and enough cable to stretch to the moon and back. Windows 98 (and 2000), Photoshop 7, MS Office 2003, Napster … dates me. They look a bit like shire horses now.

Incredible how they’ve been just sitting around and grumbling at me for months. Years, to be precise. Within three hours of listing them on freecycle they were on their way to a new owner.

I feel slightly guilty. I’m so grateful for these machines. They’ve done so much very good work for us. The bulk of our masters was researched and written up on these machines. A huge amount of web work including my first major web site was chipped out of blocks of code on these.

Most importantly, hearts were won on these faithful machines.

Manifesto
03. Every day is an opportunity to reflect on the past.
20. Every day say thank you.
22. Every day refine, clarify and simplify.
