Christmas Plan B

As Lynsey has already shared, we hadn’t planned on being home for Christmas. After only one day away we discovered we couldn’t continue to our expected destination where all our family was congregating. We are used to plans changing in our household but this one hit me harder than I would have imagined. I was sad to not be able to spend some quality time with my parents, my sisters and my youngest daughter. Being all together doesn’t happen as much as it used to and these times are always rushed and too short.

Arriving back home the first thing we had to do was head to the supermarket to buy some supplies for our Christmas Day meal which we now had to cook. As there was only going to be four of us we kept the menu very simple – glazed ham with a variety of salads (potato, bean and lettuce) followed by my later mother-in-law’s Danish lemon pudding served with fresh strawberries. It was totally delicious.

The great thing about our Christmas Day was we had no pressure to be anywhere or do anything at a certain time. We had a fun, relaxed day together.

I am so grateful to be loved and to be able to love.

I am so grateful for the wonderful family and friends that surround us and enrich our lives.

I am so grateful that we can pay our bills and put food on the table.

I am so grateful we live in a stunningly beautiful land.

I am so grateful to be alive, healthy and happy.

I am so grateful my parents created me, and that I have the strength and determination to keep digging deeper to enable the me within to emerge and flourish.

I feel incredibly blessed.

I’d like to wish you, your families and friends a most blessed, peaceful and loving Christmas. May this feeling stay with you always.

Merry Christmas
