Blue sky dreaming

I had coffee today with a business associate. He’s a very dangerous and frightening guy in many respects. It’s not that he is scary in a physical sense. I can imagine him giggling at that idea. No, his dangerousness comes from his ability to think new ideas, to see the world not only as it is but how it can be, and where things could go over the next 5-10-20 years. Conversations with him start calmly enough, and then part way through I start to go off the rails as I become overwhelmed by the sheer number and strength of his ideas.

I love it.

A cup of coffee full of double shot ideas is about as much as I can handle in one day. They keep me awake at night, or wake me early in the morning. Churning them back and forth, trying them out. Does this work – how can I make this go – this is a problem in three years time, what can I do to minimise, eliminate, or mitigate that? Who can I get to help me, who can I share this with so we both benefit? Where will the money come from, where will the customers come from, when will I see the money again, when can we get started? ? ?? ???

And then it all starts swirling around again.

The best thing about this summer break has been the weather has been on the drab side. On the days when the skies have cleared the blue seems so sparkling, so fresh somehow I can’t take my eyes off it. I stare out into the infinite and, while I’m doing that, I’m able to stare in into the infinite.

In the gaps between clouds I’m able to make new patterns and combinations and ideas have the opportunity to come together and get acquainted, maybe form some creative new ideas. I love it.

36. Every day be still. Connect to your inner being. Listen and be guided by it.
