Winter solstice


Rather than snow on the shortest day, our ornamental cherry is covered in lichen. It’s great not having snow, but the lichen is not a good sign for the tree. I don’t think it has appreciated the anti-root compounds I put down the drain. Cherries are big on invading drains.

If the cherry doesn’t respond into spring I can’t say I’ll be deeply sorry – it’s time for a fresh start and new growth. Decluttering the garden will be a good place to start.
