We caught up with friends this afternoon. Of course, afternoon tea. That most post-victorian activity on the planet. Afternoon tea.
If you know us at all you know we’re all about afternoon tea.
But there’s more going on here than meets the eye.
Holy of holies
kawakawa [Macropiper excelsum]. The leaves are usually hole punched by the green Kawakawa Looper moth [Cleora scriptaria] caterpillars. The leaves can be used for healing purposes and, rather than being a disadvantage, the leaves with the most holes are considered the best with the strongest concentrations of active ingredients.
Umbels
There was a slight break in the rain this afternoon. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to dash out and grab a few shots of the glorious parsley flowers.
I love them.
Families
I think of family as a fluid arrangement of people. Family is plural. It’s about a group of people who grow, together [and sometimes apart] through time, weaving stories visible and invisible to others.
Second chances
More than a year has gone past since I last wrote here. I want to say it’s been a terrible year. But that’s not entirely true. The Hallmark sickly sweet side of me wants to pretend everything wants to say it turned out fantastic but that’s not entirely true either.
The truth is the earth continued to rotate and the sun appeared in roughly the usual place and time, and life unrolled as it has for the last 100 million days.
