Narking is the gentle art of communication, of information, from the inside, or from an insider. No narking to be done, or, no narking to be had? Narking – from narcotics – no narcotics to be done, or, no narcotics to be had?

Narcotics seems an almost old fashioned word these days. And this, a little more than a quick sprint from the central police station. No narking to be done, or, no narking to be had?

Mid-morning protesters drew me out to get my shot of the day. Turned out to be quite fun for me – I caught up with some colleagues wagging work for a few moments in the sunshine, and tripped over a colleague from another workplace and time – who knew protesting could be a social event as well?

The protesters were singing and dancing, wearing pink wigs, and generally adding a party theme to the more serious messages regarding climate and what they saw to be the non-event – the ‘cop-out’ of Copenhagen. The police were very good humoured about the whole deal – even when they ‘MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!’ marched the people as a line back towards the safety of the pavement everybody played along nicely. It was kind of odd – the xmas shoppers, office workers, protesters, and police mixing it up on a fine morning. Most people were probably in a accord with the idea, and once the traffic and buses started to flow again it all seemed quite satisfactory.

Later I noted the protesters had adjourned to outside of the police station, waiting for members of the group to rejoin them. I assume the police were most interested in talking to the people who’d climbed the MFAT building with the banner – whoever – as they rejoined the throng there were huge cheers and laughter. Not a bad effort for a Monday – the singing and ukulele music added variety to the day.

37. Every day fight for what’s worth fighting for. Pick your battles.
38. Every day be brave and give things a go. Use fear to trigger you into action.
48. Every day there are things you can’t change. You can change the way you think about them and deal with them.
