038 – Home is the hunter…

Homeward bound, perhaps the last flight into the Capital tonight before the weather closed in. You get so used to the luxuries of getting on a plane without ever leaving the building – there’s nothing like getting off the plane into the teeth of a southerly to appreciate the finer things in life.

On the way home I start taking shots – frightening the lass in the next car – perhaps she’s been pursued by paparazzi before. Yeah, right. I love the way the rain drops distort the lights, and I know I’m going home. When I was a kid Mum and Dad would be driving us home from seeing our grandparents. I loved the engine noise and would nod off to sleep. I used to want them to drive on through the night so I wouldn’t wake up. I imagined them driving through to Auckland. A great idea, except I only knew of Auckland as little more than a concept, and of course, I bet neither Mum nor Dad would’ve ever driven to Auckland just so I could have a long restful sleep, lying on the back seat of the car.

05. Every day is now. The present moment.
14. Every day the ordinary can be the extraordinary.
22. Every day refine, clarify and simplify.
