070 – Successful you

I walk into the study to get something. I notice a book on the desk I hadn’t seen before. I pick it up and flick through the pages.

I read the words on the page in front of me … I re-read them … again and again. Then tonight I read them once more.

“Could it really be that simple?” I ask myself.

Success is the story of having arrived somewhere, on your way from an imagined past to an imagined future. I don’t even have a reference for it. For me, whatever I’m doing is a success – the ultimate success. The whole world belongs to me, because I live in the simplicity of what is: woman sitting in chair. There’s nothing beyond this, not one thought beyond it. This room is the whole world. I’m a success at sitting. I’m a success at breathing. If I died now, I’d be a success at not breathing. What could I possibly fail at? When the mind is clear, there’s no way to make a mistake. (p.130)

We determine our success. It is all about what we choose to pay attention to. It is not about what others think.

22. Every day refine, clarify and simplify.
39. Every day trust that there is a bigger picture. You are a part of it even if you may not know what it is.
42. Every day celebrate. Who you are. What you have achieved. Things that matter to you.
