266 – Last minute bonus

According to my photo’s exif data, this photo was taken at 17:34. Well, yes, not far off the shortest day to be sure. The gentleman in the yellow hi-viz coat has been trying to avoid my camera for some moments, seemingly guilty about giving the parking ticket.

There were some interesting events that took place leading up to this shot, and immediately following. On sighting the offending vehicle the ticket guy did a little dance and chirped to this colleague across the road that he’d ‘got one’. Perhaps they were keeping score with each other, or perhaps they’re paid on commission. The enforcement of parking in Wellington is ferocious.

Then the ticket guy hid while doing the administration of issuing the tickets – perhaps not wanting to be in the shot while what I originally wanted was shots of the gridlocked traffic and the buildings with their lights on.

The owner of the red car arrived and drove off, apparently oblivious to the ticket within a matter of seconds of the ticket being issued – the ticket guy was little more than the next car away.

What an adventure. If only I’d captured the entire range of events.
