Umbels

There was a slight break in the rain this afternoon. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to dash out and grab a few shots of the glorious parsley flowers.

I love them.

I love the way the bees swarm over the flowers when the sun shines.

I love the way they smell – their defiant, fresh fragrance.

I love the way they capture the water droplets and when they’re like this I always think of them as tiny tiaras. If I had a talent for fine jewellery I can imagine exploring umbels using diamonds. Probably every jewellery student has the same vision.

Last year we accidentally ended up with a forest of parsley. It was welcome at our home – we use vast quantities of parsley. And thyme, chives, rosemary, oregano, coriander, ginger and turmeric. We’re fresh herb people, rather than using dried herbs in our cooking. I love the vigorous flavors that the fresh herbs bring – tastes of life, energy, and I think food with fresh herbs tastes of gratitude.

Grace.
