Here we go again.

Do you ever get that feeling?

Groundhog day; deja vu; hang on, I’ve been here before; there’s nothing new under the sun; technology changes nothing; all over again.

You fit in, but you kind of don’t.

That’s the story of my life – square peg in a round hole.

All kinds of helpful and well-meaning people told me how I didn’t fit.

“You don’t fit our culture. Our team. Our whatever.”

I felt kind of bad because I somehow never seemed to fit.

Some time ago I learned that square pegs are a good thing.

When buildings were built of huge wooden beams pegged together, the carpenters of the day could drill round holes, and cut square wooden pegs. When the pegs were hammered into the round holes there were four friction points to stop the beams rotating around the peg. In practice, the square pegs hammered into round holes was a building technique of choice. Simple and strong, an elegant solution to complex problems.

I fit in, on my own terms.

Manifesto:
01. Every day is a fresh new day.
04. Every day is an opportunity to cultivate the promise of the future.
16. Every day looking at the order of things gives you power.
