There are harbors everywhere. There’s weather everywhere. There are tug boats and super yachts and ferries and all kinds of nautical phenomena to be found in other places.
And then there’s Wellington.
It’s common for people who don’t live here to rubbish Wellington for the weather. Locals just kind of smile and nod when that happens. They know the weather defines them. They prefer oilskins to umbrellas. They’ve become like the coastal trees – hardy, shaped by the prevailing wind. They’re not like the delicate hothouse flowers from other zones.
